Why do we Need Censorship?

Have you ever wondered why you weren’t allowed to read, listen, or see a certain book, movie, or song? Censorship is “the practice of suppressing ideas” (source three) and has a long history in America. In 2013 the Kids Right to Read Project reported that the amount of books “challenged or removed from libraries had increased” (source 3). The Library Media Center Committee should not ban certain books, movies, and songs because censorship violates our right to freedom of speech. A book, movie, or song may be misinterpreted and as a result it may be banned. Every individual has the right to decide on what form of entertainment they want or not.
