Egoistic Suicide Egoistic suicide is caused by low integration into society, regardless of the sphere or it may be linked to family bonds. This is usually found in societies where individuals are not well integrated into the society. As a result, the individual experiences a sense of meaninglessness which leads them to suicide.
Altruistic Suicide Altruistic suicide is caused by high integration into society. Individuals are usually overcome by a group's or organizational goals and beliefs. This leads individuals to perceive their own needs as less important than the societal needs. As a result, they lose sight of their own individuality; hence, they are willing to sacrifice themselves for the group’s interests, even if that means taking their own life. …show more content…

This often happens when an individuals’ life is overly regulated, when opportunities and passions are stripped away by oppressive discipline. It mostly occurs in overly oppressive societies, like prisons.
Ethical Frameworks of Suicide These four different frameworks of the ethics of suicide proposed by Thomas Hill Jr are as follows:
1. Theological The theological framework bases its ethic of suicide on theological premises. This is related to the define command theory as the typical theistic view being that either (a) life is a gift from God that we cannot revoke; or (b) we are God’s property/creation and in choosing to end our own lives we would violate his authority over us. This means that suicide is always and everywhere ethically wrong. (Danaher, 2014)
2. Libertarian The libertarian framework is strongly based on libertarian moral and political theory. Libertarians typically believe that we have a natural right of self-ownership. As a result, they believe that we have legitimate and total authority over these things and that we can do with them whatever we please. (Danaher, 2014)
