The criminal Justice system is one of our most important public systems. The public interacts with the criminal justice system daily. Employees who work with the criminal justice system are forced in to situations, which require quick decision making, even if its fatal. Without proper training or proper analytical or reasoning skills any employees whose profession pertains to law whether it’s the court system, police officer, or correction officers could find themselves recovering from poor decision making. The public work system is tasked with protecting and defending the public from crime and the dangers crime prevents.

The criminal justice system acts as enforcers of the law which is created based upon our own interpretations and insight coupled with interpersonal beliefs, which is known as ethical behavior. This behavior is based upon ethos. Ethical behavior supports or conflict with a set of values that directly or indirectly affect and individual’s actions. For example, you have just completed the police academy. So, you’re riding alone with officer Smith. Officer smith isn’t paying attention to what’s going on, you see a nice truck stop to allow children to cross the street. There isn’t a stop sign however, officer smith doesn’t see it, he pulls the car over and start asking questions about where he is going an asking question about the drivers’ son. You can tell that officer smith is getting really irritated due to the fact it’s the end of the month and he hasn’t really given out any tickets. He asks the driver to get out the car and begins searching his vehicles without proper cause. He then writes the driver a ticket.
