The Driving Forces Behind European Imperialism In Africa

European imperialism and what was driving its forces behind it? In the 1500 and 1800, European nations started European imperialism in Africa. European imperialism was European countries expanding their empire by harshly establishing colonies in Africa to exploit African resources. So what led European countries into imperialism in Africa? Cultural beliefs, political competition, and economic reasons are the reasons that led up to imperialism in Africa.
The first reason for what caused imperialism in Africa was cultural beliefs. In document B, John Ruskin says, "This is what [England] must either do or perish: she must found colonies as fast and as far as she is able." John Ruskin says this because he is inferring to finding other faraway colonies. John Ruskin's statement shows they have national pride and want to find other colonies. It proves that people want to start their own cultural beliefs, take away from Africa, and have their power. As a result, they played a significant role in European imperialism in Africa. Many other countries saw how they improved their colonies, and Africa had many valuable goods.
