You have probably watched the movie “101 Dalmatians.” It inspired many to adopt a Dalmatian. Sounds good right? Well, one thing that you may not know about a Dalmation is that they are extremely hyper. So, many of the owners took the unwanted dogs to the pound where a great number of them were euthanized. This brought the Dalmation population down by almost 18%! So believe it or not, over adoption can actually bring a population down. The article, “Pet Control: The One Thing You Wouldn’t Believe Brings a Population Down,” suggests, “The yorkies were a huge hit in the 1980’s, as their fur made them attractive, but their loud, high-pitched bark scared the owners off, and they ended up in the pound.” The same article later explains, “The real culprit of this ‘population drain’ is the fact that animals are just being euthanized for one issue, this is wrong.” No, it wasn’t the people’s fault for not being able to cope with these dog’s issues. …show more content…
