In Plato’s Euthyphro and Apology, he thinks that the cosmos is rational because everything can be known and understood by using logic and reasoning. With logic and reason everything that we don’t know and do know can be understood and make us have more knowledge than we had before. The human nature is to question everything until there are no more answers to what is being questioned. According to Socrates, in order for humans to know something they should question the idea of it until there is nothing else that can be asked and when it is understood. Everything that people know and don’t know can be figured out with by using our logic and reasoning. Plato helps us understand this when in the Euthyphro, Socrates says, “I have become your student.” Socrates knows that in order to have knowledge on something he has to use his logic and reasoning to fully understand what something is. The universe is rational because Socrates is using his logic when he tells Euthyphro that he wants him to teach him what the pious and impious is. In order to do this, Socrates claims to be Euthyphro’s student and will use his logic and reasoning to understand that is piety, being devoted to the gods, the moral goodness, and holiness. While the impious is the opposite of pious. In the Apology, Plato also lets us know that the nature of the cosmos is rational when Socrates questions the jury if he is being accused of corruption why are so many people willing to hear him expose people who think they are wise. This is affirmed when Socrates says, “It is because they enjoy hearing men examined who suppose they are wise, but are not.” Because the cosmos is rational, people are able to use logic and reasoning to examine or analyze other people. Socrates was able to analyze other people which people liked to hear. The nature of the cosmos lets humans have the ability to know how to gain more knowledge by using logic and
