Evaluation of the Model of Trust As we have discussed, the Model of Trust has introduced several relevant concepts that are essential to the business environment. Concepts such as benevolence, ability, integrity, and professional judgement will all be beneficial to those faced with ethical decision making opportunities. We will discuss how the Model of Trust is connected to the organizational culture of accounting and the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct.
Organizational Culture The accounting profession is known for expertise, consistency, and ethical decision making in the business environment. Some of the many activities accountants engage in are auditing financial statements, designing financial accounting systems, assisting in managerial accounting function, providing managerial advisory services, and tax preparation (Cherry, 2016). What makes this organization so successful is the principles of the organization. The Code of Professional Conduct, which provides guidance to professional regarding behavior, serves as a benchmark for the profession. As we discussed with organizational culture, the AICPA code of conduct also aligns successfully with the model of trust. The model’s characteristics can be found directly in the code of professional conduct. Benevolence, defined as well-meaning and kindly, can be compared to the Due Care principle. The code states members have the obligation to perform professional services to the best of a member’s ability (AICPA, 2014). The intent and sincerity of a member’s actions should be easily defined and shown. The ability characteristics speaks directly to the competence portion of the code. Principle 0.300.060.04 Due Care
