Everyone foresees a romance novel, about the typical boy that meets a girl and their love affair. Where the characters fall in love, and everything seems perfect. Filled with love poems, and making out on every other page. I really loved this book, and I found myself heated at the actions of some of the characters, and cried on multiple occasions. Maybe it’s because I’m a hopeless romantic, but the pages of this book were filled with drama, romance, and a jaw dropping secret. Ann Aguirre had me at the edge of my seat wanting more after every page, drawing me closer with every single word.
The main character’s name is Sage, and her best friend’s name is Ryan. He is the main reason why I was very heated. He was dating a twenty year old woman while he was still in high school, and only sixteen years old. He used Sage as a cover up, because everyone assumed that they were already dating so he never denied it. If it were me in Sage’s shoes, I would forgive him, but I probably wouldn’t trust him again. It was heartfelt, and very emotional. It wasn’t the type of romance book where everything was perfect. Surprisingly their relationship had it’s ups and downs, but not for the main reasons couples fight. They really showed their love for each other. Sage would always try to help Shane out when he didn’t have enough food to eat, or when he get bullied at school. She would look after her boyfriend as if he was her child, and I could see why. Shane was the new kid in town and he was an instant magnet for bullies so Sage stood up for him, and things started to go up hill from there.
