Everything was better during the war?
My parents always talk about how much better things wore before. Especially when I am playing video games or talking with others over internet or social media. When I was a kid, my mom always said “Your eyes are shaped like squares!”. They say I should go more out. Although this may be true, how much different is it to talk with someone over social media rather than real life?
Communicating over social media are in most cases to write to each other over an app or so. Apps like “Snapchat” and “Messenger” will allow you to text with others over internet. You also mentioned that 24% of the teenagers were targeted because of disabilities, sexual orientation, genders, race, religion or transgendered identity. First, this data scared me. How can it be that so many have experienced varieties of cyberbullying? In my school, there also is cyberbullying, but not even close to these numbers. But on the other hand, I got interested in why cyberbullying have grown so much the last decade?
It is important to realise how easy it is to be a cyberbully. I believe the greater part of the cyberbullying is happening over social media. What I mean by easy is that it is too easy to hide behind a nickname or a guest user. You can make a new user and hide behind a nickname. It can even be an offensive nickname. This makes it much easier to get away with cyber bullying rather than bullying in real life at the school. You never know who is hiding behind a nickname .
Another key point in this case is the teenager’s’ knowledge of internet and social media. Teenagers today know how to make it hard for others to trace you. Believe me, at my school people use so much time at a computer searching for different abilities and “How to…”. The teenagers today have so many opportunities to search and find out things
