It has been discovered that evolution is not the survival of the best organisms, only the ones who are best adapted to their environment (Daempfle, 2016). During natural selection, nature is selecting attribute for the organism. An organism’s phenotype results from its genotype and it results from the influence from the environment that it has lived in, and a substantial part of the variation in a population is caused by genotype variation (Wikipedia, n.d.). The frequency of one allele will become more prevalent or less prevalent to other forms of the gene (Daempfle, 2016). Variation ends when a new allele reaches fixation, and when variation disappears from the population, it replaces the ancestral allele completely. Mutations are changes in DNA and a cell’s genome.
