It has been discovered that evolution is not the survival of the best organisms, only the ones who are best adapted to their environment (Daempfle, 2016). The weaker organisms are separated from the stronger ones, however, the stronger ones do not always survive. There are more than four pieces of evidence used to support evolution, nevertheless, there are four very important pieces of evidence used to support the theory of evolution. During natural selection, nature is selecting attribute for the organism. An organism’s phenotype results from its genotype and it results from the influence from the environment that it has lived in, and a substantial part of the variation in a population is caused by genotype variation (Wikipedia, n.d.). The frequency of one allele will become more prevalent or less prevalent to other forms of the gene (Daempfle, 2016). Variation ends when a new allele reaches fixation, and when variation disappears from the population, it replaces the ancestral allele completely. Mutations are changes in DNA and a cell’s genome. Mutations, then often prevent genes from functioning (Wikipedia, n.d.). The majority of mutations have damaging effects. However, the ones that remain neutral have few benefits. Gene flow is the exchange of genes. This happens when populations exchange genes with different species (Wikipedia, n.d.). This happens when organisms move from one place to another. One example is when pollen moves to grass and adaptation is the process that ensures that organisms are better suited for their environments (Wikipedia, n.d.).
