In Romeo and Juliet there are two important allusions that show the amount of love and devotion people have for each other. The first major allusion is Petrarch and Laura, the other primary allusion is echo. Which both of these allusions show the true amount of love and dedication people can have for each other. The first allusion to support this theme topic is Petrarch and Laura. Petrarch was a man that wrote extensively about this one woman, named Laura. This show of devotion is extremely similar to how Romeo would go incredibly out of his way to please Rosaline, quite frankly, both of these men would not succeed with trying to love these women. Before Romeo met Juliet, he was pining over the loss of his love Rosaline. His father tells cousin Benvolio that Romeo walks the streets at night and shuts himself up in his room during the day. Which this shows how he got super upset when he could not love Rosaline and basically had to move on. Even though he did not succeed with what he was looking for with Rosaline he would later go on and show even more love to Juliet. Echo is a voice in the caves that has to repeat what you say, just like how on the balcony scene Juliet kept on repeating Romeo’s name and saying how much she loves him. This shows the amount of commitment Juliet has for Romeo even though they met only one night prior. Unlike if she was not that commited to Romeo she would have just met him at the party and moved on to someone else. But she did not because the whole start to this immense amount of love the have for each other was very much love at first sight. With this insanely quick loving they have for each other, they decide to get married only a few days after they initially met. Which therefore shows the amount of love and devotion these two people have for each other, even though they barely know each
