Final - Exemplar Essay The Dark Knight Batman is one of the greatest, and well-known superheroes till date. He is known for not having superhuman powers, or abilities. He fights his enemies with knowledge, discipline, and natural acquired talents. In the movie The Dark Knight, Batman has devoted his life to save, and keep Gotham City from crime. Why? Because he wants to avenge his parents as well as other civilian's death caused by crime in the city. The first symbol would be the Batman signal; light versus dark. The Batman signal cuts through the darkness and into the night sky when Batman is needed. Basically meaning that the city is going through chaos, and madness (darkness) which requires help from Batman (light). Towards the ending of the film when the signal is broken it represents the loss of hope in Batman. The number three itself is a symbol in the movie. It represents Gotham’s three heroes; Batman, James Gordon, and Harvey Dent. Also it symbolizes the three games the Joker played; picking/saving between Harvey and Rachel, is Coleman Reese isn't killed then he’ll blow up the hospital, and lastly the explosive rigged evacuation boats. Another symbol is the usage of colors on the Joker. The Joker’s vest, tie, and hair are green. The color green represents hope, which is ironic because the Joker is making Gotham city lose hope. His jacket, and shirt are colored purple. Purple represents royalty, which the Joker clearly thinks of himself. The Joker’s red lips symbolize his anger and passion for chaos that he is causing. Lastly the color white, which he paints on his face represents peace and purity, two traits that The Joker clearly does not have. This film has many symbols that
