The Matrix: Character Archetypes
There is a variety of interesting, and complex characters and ideas in the cinematic film,
“The Matrix. In the film, three characters with very distinct archetypes keep the movie’s story going. The three characters are Morpheus, Neo, and Trinity. These three characters tell a story.
Throughout the film, it is clear why the characters fulfill the shoes of their specific character archetype, overall personality, and position throughout the journey. Without their motivations and persona, there wouldn’t be a story to tell. Morpheus, Neo, and Trinity fulfill their character archetypes because of their impact on the story and their individual motivations.

In the movie, Morpheus wants Neo to be the best as he believes he is the “chosen one”.
Morpheus brings Neo to the real world as well as taking him to “The Construct”. In the construct, he takes him through training simulations and teaches him about the “dreamworld” that he once lived in. All of this proves that Morpheus is the mentor character archetype, to have
Neo prepared for later in the movie.
Neo in the movie fits into the hero archetype. At the beginning of the film, he seems to be a normal person among many others until he is told to go on a journey. He leaves his ordinary life behind as he embarks on what is outside of his reality. Neo is then introduced to his mentor

Morpheus who asks him which pill he wants to take. Neo chooses to take the red pill since he wants to know the unsettling truth of what he knows as his reality.
