When you love someone, you will do anything for them. In the book Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls, the main character Billy shows great love and respect for his two hound dogs. He develops a stronger bond with his dogs as time passes. Billy shows bravery and determination throughout his adventures. Billy shows bravery in a lot of ways. In the book, Billy goes all the way to Tahlequah, a town miles away in the middle of the night, just to get his dogs. In the text, it says “I was scared of Tahlequah and the people”. I had never seen such a big town and so many people.” This shows bravery because Billy was scared of Tahlequah but still gets his dogs. He didn’t want to wait to get his dog with his Grandpa, so he went on his own. Billy also rescued Little Ann from freezing water. In the text, it says “I opened my mouth to call Old Dan”. I wanted to tell him to come on and we'd go home, as there was nothing we could do. The words just wouldn't come out. I couldn't utter a sound.” This shows that Billy is scared to help, and thinks there is nothing he can do but couldn’t leave Little Ann there, so he tries to figure out a way to help.
