It displayed an act of civil disobedience, the denial to follow certain laws or to pay taxes as a form political protest, which is displayed by the Boston Tea Party. Read the article The Boston Tea Party. American Battlefield Trust, 2 Nov. 2023, it says “In 1763, Great Britain won the French and Indian War after nine long years. However, the British victory came at a hefty price. Parliament began to levy taxes on the North American colonies to pay for the debts incurred by the war.” The American colonies were not fond of the fact that they were paying for the debts of the British. In the event of the Tea Party the Dartmouth, the boat that held the chests of tea, was sitting in the harbor while the American colonists that were dressed as Mohawk Indians boarded the boat. They dressed as Native Americans because they wanted to hide their identity, but also, they knew if they were caught as just colonists, they knew their punishment would be more severe. The American colonists were tired of having to pay these taxes when the British would not even listen to their voice and their perspective on it. The Americans believed it was unjust, which it was, so they showed the British that they were not frightened (Boston Tea Party). This connects to my thesis because it shows how the Boston Tea Party affected our relationship with Great Britain and how the beginning of the American Revolution
