There are many examples of transgender athletes causing problems in elite sports. Transgender athletes are taking away opportunities from women who worked hard. One of the most controversial examples is Lia Thomas who swam competitively in the NCAA. These transgender women are robbing cisgender women of their amazing accomplishments. According to the Journal of sports science & Medicine (2010), the gender gap in sports has not changed since 1983. In the 100, 400, and 800-meter races women who won a gold medal in their division, did not even come close to finishing fast enough to qualify for the gold medal final if they were racing with men. In the 100-meter freestyle, the bronze winner for men would have beaten the women who won gold by over 4.5 seconds which is a lot of time for swimming. The article written by Dennis L. Weisman(2022) who is an emeritus Professor of Economics at Kansas State University analyses the performance factors of athletes: “This simple model reveals that the overarching issue in terms of fair competition is less about birth sex and more about controlling for N” (para. 16). N referring the athlete's natural endowment. This data showed the type of effects that an athlete's effort, natural endowment, and hormonal therapy have on the athletes. Although hormonal therapy can help balance out the fairness it will never balance out the natural endowment of the athlete making it the most controlling variable. Even though their evidence shows that competition between women and men can be fair when they share the same natural qualities. The word “natural endowment” is referring to heart size, muscle mass, lung capacity, and other physical parts of the body that can differ between people but also give athletes advantages in their sports. The Director of the Human Energetics Laboratory at Notre Dame, Cara Ocobock (2022), said in her article Sex In Sports she says that men generally
