People might describe a hero as someone with bravery and courage. Some might say a hero might be a strong soldier and leader. Others may define a hero as someone who uses his mind as much as strength to win. Odysseus is portrayed as a hero because he shows many heroic traits.

Odysseus shows a lot of courage, which is what lots of other “heroes” have. This is obvious when he fights Poseidon. When Circe turned his men into animals, he climbed up a mountain, risking his life just to save his men. He’ll do anything to get back to Ithaca to see his wife and son, no matter how nuts it is. He even goes to the underworld to ask a prophet how to get back to Ithaca. Being brave is all about being brave enough to help save people or a place. …show more content…

He leads his men across the sea into a battle versus the Trojans. Odysseus and his men defeated the Trojans because of his great leadership. Knowing that he cannot defeat the Trojans from outside the walls, he comes up with another idea. He makes a giant wooden horse called the Trojan horse and they show it as a sign of “peace”. The Trojans take the gift, not knowing that inside the horse was Odysseus and a few of his men. When the Trojans went to sleep, Odysseus and his men snuck out of the horse and killed the Trojans. Ithaca was successful and the men could return back home glad, all because of the leadership of Odysseus. And that he also killed many people in the Trojan War. If he would have told his men that they would’ve died, he wouldn’t have gotten anywhere himself, so he was being smart. And what Penelope doesn’t know, won’t hurt her. Odysseus does have weaknesses such as his cheating problem and his problem with pride. However, Odysseus survived all that happened to him. His bravery, courage, cleverness, and strength allow him to come through each and every challenge and arrive home safely. Proving himself worthy of being a true hero. The reason I think Odysseus is a hero is because he shows a lot of heroic traits when on his journey. Like courage, bravery, intelligence, patience, and many more. Odysseus is the definition of a hero. It is clear that Odysseus is a hero because he is able to return back to Ithaca and restore his kingdom. In conclusion, it is fair to say that Odysseus is by far, a hero. From the time he climbed up a mountain, an act of bravery, risking his own life to save his men from Circe, to the time that he was very clever and used the wooden horse to get inside the Trojans walls. Many heroic traits were shown by Odysseus through the book. It is hard to argue that he is not a hero. Odysseus was the greatest hero of a his
