Daisy was an extremely arrogant person. Daisy showed her arrogance by the way she thought so highly of herself and that she was better than everybody else. In the movie Daisy tells Gatsby that “a rich girl can never be with a poor man.” When Daisy said this she was portraying that she couldn't risk being with him because it would make her look bad. Daisy said that knowing Gatsby loved her and that he would go find a way to be with her, he even changed his name, but she was too proud to realize that all she really needed was him not him to have money.
Gatsby loved Daisy, in his way. In chapter 6, after Gatsby’s party which Tom and Daisy attended, Jay reveals to Nick how he and Daisy fell in love. He explain that when he kissed her, he fell deeply in love with her. Weather one kiss can being about that kind of enduring love is questionable and certainly a strong argument can be made that what Jay loved was the idea of Daisy more than Daisy herself. She was, after all, beautiful and rich.

When the idea of the 1920’s comes up the first thought is “the roaring twenties” with parties, wealth, and dancing. Often the issues of the time are forgotten. However, The Great Gatsby stands as a window into the social system of the 1920’s. With references to racism and prohibition, Fitzgerald created a story that gives a sense of society at this time. However, the most evident issue is the sexism often portrayed.

It is a given that every piece of work that people read will contain all sorts of characters. Those characters can range from villains, victims, or venerables. In F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby, he very thoroughly presents each of those types of characters to his readers. Mr. Wilson matches the definition of a victim in this novel by the way people deceived him and lied to him the entire time, Nick Carraway presents himself as a venerable, otherwise known as an honorable character, due to his outstanding loyalty, and Daisy Buchanan, although not seen by most, is a villain because of her actions that cause detrimental issues.
The novel,The Great Gatsby, calls the character Jay Gatsby ‘Great’. As the story proceeds, Nick Carroway explains Gatsby as only wanting one thing, Nick’s cousin Daisy. Gatsby met his flame five years prior, and has since been away at war and Daisy has since gotten married. With Daisy marrying up to ‘Old Money’ Tom Buchanan, Gatsby must do everything in his power to impress Daisy. Gatsby deals in shady businesses in order to gain as much fortune and spend that fortune on his obsession.

Daisy Buchanan is a woman who mesmerizes the people around her, most dominantly males as depicted in the novel. Gatsby a man who has access to all material possessions, wants nothing more than reciprocated love from Daisy, but he is just one of many.
In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the character Daisy consistently deceives the other characters in the novel through how they appear and act. Near the beginning of the novel, Daisy acts consistently angelic, surrounded by bright lights and white. The color white is typically associated with purity and heavenly, but as the novel progresses, it is clearly shown that she is not. This is shown by how Daisy interacts with the people in the lower class.
Nick Carraway, a young man living in Long Island, finds himself fascinated by the lifestyle of his neighbor Jay Gatsby, who throws extravagant parties. Gatsby’s elaborate parties host hundreds of people, but no one knows who he is, and where his money came from. Everything that Gatsby has worked for has been for one sole purpose, which is for Daisy to desire him over the many other rich and respected men in society. Gatsby has it all, the mansion, the fast cars, the fancy suits, but with all those excessive commodities that money can buy, it seems that he cannot fulfill his wish to be with Daisy. If Daisy really did love Gatsby, she would’ve chased after it, but it turns out she chose a different path.
In the first chapter of The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald presents the audience with a clear presentation of Daisy’s attributes and personality traits, possibly to the extent of presenting her as a stereotypical representation of most wives in the early 20th century. From Nick’s first visit to the Buchanan household in chapter one, Daisy is associated with that of something ‘Heavenly’ or ‘Angelic’: “The only completely stationary object in the room was an enormous couch on which two young women were buoyed up as though upon an anchored balloon. They were both in white, and their dresses were rippling and fluttering as if they had just been blown back in after a short flight around the house”. Her white attire doesn't only give her an ‘angelic’ presence, but also gives the impression of innocence and pure.
