The book The Great Gatsby is about a man trying his very hardest to find the love of his life five years ago and rekindle the fire they once had. After finally reuniting with the help of a trustworthy neighbor, the woman sets him up. She uses her past love to make her husband jealous. After a great incident between the husband and his secretive mistress, Gatsby gets killed. I personally think it’s everyone’s fault Gatsby turned out the way he did. Now, here is what starts the blame game for his death. In the beginning of the book, Nick (the narrator) moves from the middle west into West Egg to end up becoming Gatsby’s neighbor. No one ever has except Nick’s cousin (Daisy) and the people that work for Gatsby of course. Since Daisy has never came to one of Gatsby’s parties, Gatsby decides to have Nick hold a tea party for Daisy and himself (Fitzgerald 39). Without Daisy knowing Gatsby would be at the tea party, she shows up right on time. Nick was the first person to ever let Daisy and Gatsby get back together. So that’s what triggered it. During the middle of the book, Gatsby invites Daisy to a party with her husband Tom and that holds up a whole fiasco. Tom kind of knew that they were hinting at something because they were looking each other in the eyes and noticing just them and not anyone else (Fitzgerald 75). As they were all huddled at the party Daisy and Gatsby ran off with the help of Nick. So Nick at this point is the leading cause of why Gatsby was killed.
