Life is a gift. A gift filled with emotion, morals, and choices. You are brought into this world and quickly grow into a naive, happy, ball of joy; convinced no wrong can be done. As you grow older, you slowly realize that not everything is as good at it seems. You learn about the bad that is happening in the world and learn that not everyone is a good person. There are lots of good people, and even more bad people, but The Comedian is the lowest of low a true monster. Rorschach only does bad things to bad people. He tells us this various times throughout the book. For example, “Because there is good and there is evil, and evil must be punished.” (Moore/Gibbons ch1, 24) and “Evil must be punished.” (Moore/Gibbons ch12, 23). He did atrocious things without remorse. It is obvious that he enjoys inflicting pain on people. “HA! Look at ‘em. Run you suckers!” (Moore/Gibbons ch1, 17), as he throws gas into a crowd. And to add insult to injury, he knows the wrong he is doing, yet enjoys every second of it. “He understands perfectly… and he doesn’t care.” (Moore/Gibbons ch4, 19) There is a clear line, and he has crossed that line a long time ago.
