Max Taylor Mr. Jaroski English 11 March 20, 2023 Downfall of Society Farheitheit 451 a book written by Ray Bradbury book relates to Society today in many ways and it's not good. Society has changed over time and it’s getting progressively worse than in the past. The book Fahrenheit 451 has a society that relates more and more to modern society the more time passes. There are many factors that are in the society that also in the book that we today have and experience in society. For example, in the book society was controlled by the government, parents don’t like dealing with kids, and people like the easy stuff and avoid ‘tasks’ that are hard. Society has changed and it has not necessarily changed for the better. The Government plays a big …show more content…
They started to talk about different stuff and Guy Montag asked how her children were doing. Another girl asked why would you have children if they are ruinous. The other one explained that it's not that bad. You only see them 3 times a month and when they are home put them in the parlor. This relates to today's society because parents when they are visiting with family or at a restaurant they will give their kids a phone so they don’t have to deal with them. They don’t want to have to deal with the kid's attitude and crying so they give them something to watch. Also, parents nowadays buy games for their kids knowing they will play it for hours and that is hours they don’t have to deal with them. Moreover, in the book when Montag asked Mrs. Bowles about her kids she said, “The world must reproduce, you know, the race must go on. Besides, they sometimes look just like you, and that’s nice. Two Cesareans turned the trick, yes, sir.” and then another Mrs. Phelps had to say, “Cesareans or not, children are ruinours.” and then the other one with children states, “I plunk the children in school nine days out of ten. I put up with them when they come home three days a month; it’s not bad at all. You heave them into the ‘parlor’ and turn the switch. It’s like washing clothes; stuff laundry in and slam the lid”(92-93). This shows how the parents in the society of Fahrenheit 451 view children as being nothing, not even as an …show more content…
They release certain information and they have geared people to the point they don’t really have their own thoughts. They made people in a way where they enjoy the simple things they don’t like, the things that can cause them to do more than they have to. This is much like today's society where there are people that don’t want to work because they believe it is too hard. Unemployed people that can work but say they can’t get a job even though jobs have a lack of people are lazy because it's too ‘hard’ for them. They get paid even though they don’t work by the government. The book society is much the say as today in this way and in the book Faber states, “Any man who can take a TV wall apart and put it back together again, and most men can, nowadays, is happier than any man who tries to slide rule, measure, and equated the universe, which just won’t be measured or equated without making man feel bestial and lonely” (58). This shows that in Montag's society likes it when things are simple to do and you don’t have to do a whole lot of extra work. This is similar to today's society because many people don't work because to them they should have to do a little work to get money. They all believe that it should be given to them and it shouldn’t be any difficulty getting it. The government then gives them money without them having to work for
