In the book A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens (adapted by Fredrick Gaines), 3 spirits showed Scrooge visions in order to divert him from his arrogant ways. These three spirits, by name, are The Spirit of Christmas Past (1st Spirit), The Spirit of Christmas Present (2nd Spirit), and the Spirit of Christmas Yet To Come (3rd Spirit). But let’s be honest- the 2nd Spirit is superior to the rest. He played his cards right and had the most effect on Scrooge. Scrooge, being a selfish man, had no concern about his past or what lay ahead of him, thus making The Spirit of Christmas Present (The 2nd Spirit) the most appealing to him, making him more malleable and pliant under The 2nd Spirit’s visions.

Within A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, Ebenezer Scrooge, is introduced the first chapter (or stave considering the time of the book’s publishing). Throughout the Stave, Scrooge is introduced as a greedy man, who is very hateful and clever. This was made apparent when Dickens chose to compare Scrooge to the cold and harshness of a snow storm. This was also shown when he, quite cleverly, told charity workers, as well as order his own nephew, to leave his workplace. His business partner’s death didn’t even faze him, so much.
He had changed his ways from being nice and giving when his partner and friend, Jacob Marley, had died. It changed everything about Scrooge. He had no spirit for anything including Christmas. He never paid a nickel for anything or anyone. That changed when Jacob Marley’s ghost came back to him to warn him about his future in death how he would have many chains holding him down if he stayed the way he was.
He was a stingy man with a cold heart, engrossed by money. He could not recognize the value of his family. But the ghosts of Christmas came to change his life. Scrooge is known as a grumpy old man who hates the joyfulness of Christmas. His experiences throughout the book help him realize that in order for him to lead a better life, he needs to become more compassionate towards other people. In order for him to not be despised and an unmourned man, he needs to be forgiven by the people in his life. With the help of the three ghosts, he realizes he needs to change his ways before it is too late.
In the story A Christmas Story by Charles Dickens, the main character is Ebenezer Scrooge which is a very rich egocentric man that refuses to take part in Christmas and only cares for his "Money". During Christmas time Scrooge is stuck on Kohlberg 's stage two instrument and relativity because he would rather spend Christmas alone. He also wanted his business to continue work on December 25th which is morally wrong because that is a national holiday and people deserve that day off. Throughout the story Scrooge only cares about his money and not anyone else 's benefits. He wanted to use his underpaid worker Bob Cratchit on Christmas for his benefit of money.
