“Beowulf” the epic poem shows characteristics of strength, bravery, feeling of respect, and loyalty and the use of kennings. The heroism in “Beowulf” really stands out. Beowulf stands up for anyone and protects his people from danger. In lines 53-56 it talks about how Sheafson led Beowulf to learn how to fight at a young age so when Shield is gone he will be there to take over.; this also taught him to have respect for others. Beowulf swims across the Brecca underwater to fight the monsters. Beowulf brought his best warriors to fight Grendel and they could not defeat them; but showing courage he fights Grendel with no armour and rips his arm off. Wiglaf holds fast to the courageous code superior to anything Beowulf's different retainers, along these lines substantiating himself an appropriate successor to Beowulf. But with the help of Wiglaf, he tries his best to defeat the dragon. Although going after the dragon knowing he is going to die, he is still fighting for his people. He wants them to be safe and he would risk his life to make sure of that. In lines 2331-2332 it shows how Beowulf was grieving before going into a battle and had never felt that way before. Wiglaf tries his best to gather people around to help Beowulf fight off the
