Johnny wrote in his letter, ‘It’s worth it … Some of the parents came by to thank me and I know it was worth it.’ (pg.178) and in his tone, Johnny was very proud about saving the children in his letter. Johnny thought the children’s lives were more important than his so Johnny knew it was worth risking his life to save those kids which was heroic because a lot of people would have watched the building burn to the
Johnny's most recent story is when he saved multiple kids from a burning building. Johnny went into the building without hesitation and he was determined to save the kids. In the process of dropping the last child the roof caved in and Johnny’s back was broken. Johnny died soon after of injuries. Johnny was a hero to anyone who met him.
When one is to think of what a hero is, many different definitions may come to mind. It may be someone who saves people, someone who uses courage and bravery, or maybe something completely different. In the novel “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton, one character really seems to stick out and do an excellent job fulfilling this role. This character is Johnny. Johnny not only uses courage and fearlessness to care for those he is passionate about, but he is also very responsible for his actions.
What do you consider a hero? What do you consider a villain? Can someone be both a hero and a villain? Well in the realistic fiction novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, there are two gangs, the greasers and the socs. The greasers are very loyal to each other, and they even treat each other like family, but there is this one character named Johnny Cade, who is pretty shy but could be a hero and a criminal.
In The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, a character did all these things and that’s why he’s a hero. Johnny is the character in the book that is a hero because he saved pony boy from Bob, he saved the kids from the burning church, and he risked his life for us friends and some random kids. Johnny is a hero because he saved Ponyboy from Bob. It was heroic because Johnny knew he could get in a lot of trouble for killing Bob to save Ponyboy. He knew that he might of gone to jail or get the death penalty.
What’s the definition of the word “hero?’’ Many think it’s when a person does something heroic. But, have they really went into depth with the meaning of this word? A hero is someone who shows courage without even thinking about the dangers they could put themselves into. That is what Johnny Cade did.
He had many burns including covering his whole neck. This paper will be about the story of Johnny Cade. Johnny Cade was jumped near the beginning of the story, which caused to be afraid and have fear. It also taught him to be cautious. Johnny says, (through chattering teeth)
This is where it shows that Johnny is a hero when saved the little kids from the
Johnny Cade was a golden light in the tunnel of his dark town. In the book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, there are two prominent gangs in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the greasers and the Socs. The greasers are a crew of teenage guys with obvious complications, while the Socs are a group of the society with hidden problems. Johnny was a part of the greasers, he was 16 years old but far above that mentally. On the outside he was young with a small presence.
Being a hero doesn 't always mean you risk your life for someone. It can be something like a person getting out of their way to do something for you. In my eyes the hero of this novel is Johnny ¨Yes anyone could be a hero. You can think about it you just have to do what is in your heart to help.”
Johnny is the best example of a hero because he shows the heroic qualities of bravery, because he had no fear, and selflessness because he didn’t care which child bit him or he didn’t worry about making it out, he just had one goal: to make sure everyone was safe and out of harm’s way. It was like his heroic qualities were in disguise. He may have been the last one in the burning church after Pony, but he was still the last one
Soul on ice written by Eldridge Cleaver is a very interesting book. This book gives insight to the thoughts of a black man and his views on the white race and white women, the black race and black women, politics and more. It portrays Cleaver as a very complex man troubled while he wrote in love, in hate, in patriotic tones, in slander, lust and just in life in general. Soul on ice challenges the prevalent viewpoint in the US and offer exposure to the perspective of a very intelligent person that was unfortunately born with the odds against him. Some of the essays are sort of painful to read.
Every past and modern culture over the course of history, has its hero’s. A hero is a person or figure that others look up to and use as forms of protection. Many cherish the hero’s, they make up who we are today. The Anglo-Saxon hero, Beowulf, and the postmodern hero/hero’s, the soldiers, both show the traits of bravery, selflessness, and loyalty. To have the trait of bravery you have to have lots of confidence in yourself and have courage.
Saving lives, jumping from tall buildings, and flying -- is heroic characteristics. Sammy in John Updike's story “A&P” is not a hero. I believe he is not a hero because Sammy never interacted with the girls, he quit his job to impress the girls, and they never saw his action. Sammy never interacted with the girls, his mindset was just lust and how pleasing they are. “She had on a kind of dirty-pink bathing suit and, what got me the straps were down” (Updike).
Who is the greatest hero in the outsiders “Heroes are forged not born.” This quote perfectly describes Johnny Cade a well mannered 16 year old boy in the Greasers gang. In the novel “The Outsiders” Johnny didn’t have the best environment to grow up in, he was beat and left alone for most his childhood
