In the book The Perks of Being a Wallflower, it's about a boy named Charlie who is also trying to mature in a world that he does not understand as well with various challenges. However with Charlie he has time to mature because he's younger, still growing up and developing in the world. In the book The Catcher in the Rye, Charlie is more mature than Holden because Holden doesn't take anything seriously like in school he's dropping out and doesn't take the initiative to succeed. He always changes the subject when talking to someone and doesn't understand people and how they process things.When Holden drops out of school that affects his maturity level because if he doesn't have education he won't understand how the world works and the knowledge that educations has. On page 14 of The Catcher in The Rye it says, “Do you feel absolutely no concern for my future, boy? Oh, I feel some concern for my future, all right. Sure. Sure, I do. I thought about it for a minute. But not too much, I guess.” This quote is showing that if he really cared and was mature than he would try harder to not flunk out. He also doesn’t seem as interest in the concern of his future because he says but not too much. If he would pay attention in school he would be able to process , learn and understand more rather than becoming anti social and judging people and
