The Outsiders: Identity Bryan Luengas May 18, 2023 ELA 7th Identity, it makes a person who they are. It can show how they are & act. Like how Johnny reacted with Bob & Ponyboy. It's the identity we have that makes us act the way we do. It’s the thing keeping us from being another person. So I’ll give an explanation from the book about a person named Johnny Let's take Johnny and Bob, Bob had gotten jealous of Johnny’s friend, Ponyboy. Johnny killed Bob because you have to take in that Johnny is an abused child. So When he responds to danger it’s fight or flight or he gets beat up. The people who beat him up are the ones who made him who he is. It’s a part of his identity so now it sticks with him. This was just one way he became who he was. Like when he didn’t want to see his mother at the hospital and she said something that Johnny knew but it still hurt him.
