In his essay, “First Wilderness: America’s Wonderland and Indian Removal from Yellowstone National Park,” Mark David Spence argues that the creation of Yellowstone National Park is an early illustration of removing native peoples as a way to “preserve” nature. The idea of Yellowstone being a pristine and untouched wilderness, is challenged by Spence as he brings to light the presence of Indigenous peoples and communities who had occupied the land prior to the national park being established. He advocates for a better understanding of Yellowstone National Park’s history, encompassing the dispossession of the Indigenous peoples within the area. This essay by Terry Tempest Williams, is describing us first the massacre of the prairie dog that occurred at the Cedar Ridge Golf Course, where over 400 prairie dog where gassed to death. There are 5 species of prairie dog and they are now threatened and might be in extinct in couple of years. The people wanted to exterminate the dogs because they were running the range because they consume a large amount of green grasses and forbs. According to Williams, “Prairie habitat not only for themselves but also for other grassland species. Prairies dog create diversity, destroy them, and you destroy a varied world (p86/87).”
Robert Redford’s “Protecting Our Wild Horses” is a persuasive essay that was written to congress addressing the preservation of the horse’s habitat. In the text he effectively builds a common ground with him and the reader, he gives statistics, and uses inclusive language to strengthen his rhetoric and makes this article compelling to anyone. Redford tries to evoke a sense of patriotism amongst his audience in order to persuade them to take a stand in protecting this countries wild horses. The author keeps reiterating things like “American’s principles” and the “spirit of the American West” and how important these horses are to people and this nation.
I do agree with the U.S. Federal government’s management plan for wild horses. Based on the reading, the U.S. Federal government had the best interest of wild horses in mind when declaring this act. The act protects horses from humans by making wild horses components of the public land they occupy. The Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act prevents humans from slaughtering wild horses. The act also considers the natural behaviors of horses and how these behaviors will affect the longevity of the wild horse population.
In the essay “Rhetorical Studies and the Gun Debate: A Public Policy Perspective”, the effects of poor rhetorical leadership will bring up current events like speeches made every day by political officials and will make the reader question how much they actually trust their own leaders. I will use the trust of the government as a starting point to bounce values off of and explain why Americans values such things and how it came to be. In “Rhetorical Studies and the Gun Debate: A Public Policy Perspective”, the author focuses more on persuading the audience to participate in the rhetorical debates instead of going into more detail about the rhetoric used. In my essay I will explain the values and myths behind their mistrust in the government and the lack of intervention in the corruption of the government.
In 1877, the assimilation of the Osage resulted in a ration system that resulted in the starvation of many tribe members. In 1877, the commissioner for Indian Affairs refused to speak with the Osage tribe leader about the ration system and its subsequent effects. In 1906, the Osage Allotment Act prevented future Osage Native Americans from legally joining the tribe and receiving a headright. In 1921, the first recorded murder for an Osage headright was committed against Charles Whitehorn. It wasn’t until 1925 that the murders were investigated, despite pleas from the Osage for help and intervention.
Rodeos are big events all over the country. Families come from all over to enjoy watching cowboys compete at the rodeos. While some people come to rodeos to document the abuse and harm that the cowboys are causing the animals. It is a big controversy whether rodeos are animal abuse or not. Animal rights activists are trying to stop rodeos from “abusing” animals, but they don’t know the extensive care that the animals are given.
These issues can still improve through cooperation and understanding, however, and reaching a satisfactory decision about the Dakota Access Pipeline provides a perfect gateway to uplifting improvement of the reservations’ lifestyle. If the government agrees to give a little, a great opportunity arises for them to get a little as well. In the last decades, lack of funding has led to blatantly subpar education for the majority of Native American students, even when the government made an attempt to intervene due to an understandable inherent distrust of Government interference. Through a monumental compromise via the Dakota Access Pipeline, the government could prove its decency, transparency, and trustworthiness, which would advance the relationship of Native Americans and the United States Government brilliantly. The newfound trust could easily apply to areas such as financial welfare, educational support, and government-run health clinics.

For people to understand what 's really going on when these hunters pay all the money they pay to go hunt a animal. The PBS program “Gunned Down: The power of the NRA” highlighted how the NRA continues it’s stranglehold on the government and gun policies. It is quite clear that gun control advocates attempt to play off the emotion of citizens whereas pro gun advocates fear the public into believing the government is attempting to steal their guns and liberties. The side of the gun control advocates can be seen through the likes of President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. Conversely, the pro gun effort is shown through Ringleader Wayne LaPierre who continues to save the NRA and second amendment rights. The AP “Gov.” class at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is familiar with the debate; before they were even born, the big money - gun debate had already been in full swing. Discussions leading to debates on the local, county, state and federal level about gun control, highlighting the influence wrought by big money had many voices, but little impact on either issue. One voice can engage the public and bring forth change; that voice is Emma Gonzalez. On a day reserved for flowers, candy, sentiments of love and affection, the actions of one person changed lives and the day forever; from those actions were born a resolve and a voice.
The fight for gun control has been a never-ending battle in recent years amongst the Republican and Democratic Party. How the media portrays gun control has a lot to do with how people view guns and the gun laws at hand; for example, CNN and Fox news are best known for having completely different views and reporting styles. In a CNN article titled “NRA chief accuses Democrats of pushing ‘socialist’ agenda in the wake of the Florida shooting” written by Lauren Fox it discusses the tension between the NRA and Democrats when it comes to gun control. The Gun Control Debate In recent years, there’s not many topics on the political spectrum that aren’t absolutely polarizing. This essay will attempt to show each side’s generalized opinions, and find flaws in each of their arguments, as every ethical argument has flaws. Analyzing each side will help anyone understand their own opinions better, because without the demonization of the opposite party, ethics get much more difficult. Gun control is everywhere in the news right now, as three months into the year, the country has had12 school shootings in 2018. Exploring the ethics of gun control can get messy and emotional, but it’s important to understand all sides of a subject.
Everyday in the United States, ninety families are changed forever; guns claim an average of ninety lives every day in the United States, 33,000 lives in a single year. Gun control has been a debate in the United States for many years and is constantly thrusted back into the public’s attention by horrific shootings. These shootings constantly cause individuals to petition the government to place stricter and stricter regulations of guns. However, these policies cannot be the solution to this problem. To determine a solution that will be both effective and constitutional, we must look at statistics and research that has been conducted to determine the best course of action.
