Judgment is an easy thing to do but to judge right is the hard part. In the Crucible bad judgment gets thrown around haphazardly causing permanent damage. In this story people manipulate others into executing the people that wronged them. First of all, The people of Salem jump to concussion to quickly cause false judgment in the town. In act one page 33 Abigail said “Good with the Devil! I saw Goody Osburn with the Devil! I saw Bridget Bishop with the Devil!”. In the part Abigail says that she saw Sarah Good and Parris sends the marshall to go arrest her for witchcraft. The people hearing that there could be witches in Salem can cause great panic in a religious town and the people in power will do all they can to get rid of the problem. An example of this is in act two page 40 Mary states Elizabeth, “Mary Warren: No, sir. There be thirty-nine now—She suddenly breaks off and sobs and sits down, exhausted. Elizabeth: Why, she’s weepin’! What ails you, child? Mary Warren: Goody Osburn—will hang!”. Mary warns Elizabeth about the hangings in Salem and how people are being accused of witchcraft including Elizabeth. Goody Goodman was one of many accused of being a witch and with no real proof just the words of so many girls in the town caused her along with thirty-nine others to be sentenced to be hanged. John Proctor states a very logical point talking about how the people are not thinking correctly, in act two page 55 he states “If she is innocent! Why do you never wonder if Parris be innocent, or Abigail? Is the accuser always holy now? Were they born this morning as clean as God’s fingers?”. In this statement John Proctor is talking about how Abigail and Parris accused goody Proctor of witchcraft and once again with no proof, and John Proctor pointed that out to try to show them that it may be for vengeance and not for actual
