Romeo and Juliet analysis paper
The story of Romeo and Juliet is one about star crossed lovers whose innocence was that of a child and lost by the end. As we progress through the story we see tragedy after tragedy that tears this child like innocence apart. This analysis on Romeo and Juliet will cover the tragic loss of innocence that both Romeo and Juliet face in Shakespeare's play. There is much evidence to point to both how Romeo and Juliet were at the beginning of the play as innocent as can be, such as Romeo’s sadness at the beginning of the play and Juliet’s dad not yet ready for her to marry which throughout the play is lost due to events such as Romeo killing Tybalt and Juliet killing herself.

Such as in (Romeo and Juliet 1.2 1_38) where Paris speaks to Lord Capulet about trying to wed Juliet, however Lord Capulet insists that Juliet is too young to get married due to her being fourteen. Another instance of Juliet's innocence is (Romeo and Juliet 1.3 15_105). The first part of these lines is the nurse going over how Juliet was when she was just a baby and how she has matured over the past 14 years. The nurse also throws in a story about a dirty joke her husband made and how innocent Juliet's response was to it. After these stories are told the mother brings up the subject of marriage to Juliet and asks her what she thinks about getting married with Juliet's response being “It is an honor that I dream not of.” showing that she does not yet feel like getting married to someone she does not love. Lady Capulet tried convincing her even further but to no avail since Juliet has no desire to marry. Juliet's innocence in the beginning is further proved by (Romeo and Juliet 1.4 91 _115) Where Juliet and Romeo met for the first time on the dance floor where Juliet is immediately struck by cupid's arrow while dancing with Romeo who then kisses her on the lips. The part where most things happen is (Romeo and Juliet 3.1 32 ._128) where at the beginning Tybalt has picked a fight with Mercutio. At first Romeo tries to defuse the situation by saying things about how he loves Tybalt and telling Mercutio to put his Rapier up showing that he has yet to lose his innocence. After Tybalt calls Romeo a villain, Romeo still tries to defuse the situation, but Mercutio arrives at the thought that Romeo is scared to fight Tybalt where he challenges Tybalt to a duel. While Tybalt fights Mercutio, Romeo ignorantly continues trying to break up the fight by asking Benvolio to beat their swords down thinking this will keep them from fighting; however Tybalt stabs Mercutio. Mercutio, now dead, Romeo's downward spiral of losing innocence begins. Romeo, both enraged and depressed at the loss of Mercutio, goes to find Tyablt challenging Tybalt to a duel ending with Romeo killing Tybalt. Now Romeo Knowing that he has done something unforgivable, runs away to hide in Friar Laurence's cell knowing that if he stays, the death penalty is what he will be sentenced to. Romeo’s actions cause an even greater feud between the Montagues and the Capulets in lines (Romeo and Juliet 3.1 130 _190). These lines start out with the citizens in a panic and when the prince enters he asks what has happened. After the prince hears all that happened his decision is to banish Romeo
