There are many misconceptions and even stupidities in nutrition. One of the best examples is the constant propaganda against eating meat. This propaganda can often result in withholding a meat from children, although it 's very important for their growth and development.

These are 8 largest misconceptions:

1. Meat rots in the colon

There are some stories about inappropriate meat digestion, and rotting in the colon. That 's absolute nonsense which is most probably invented by fanatical vegans just to scare people. Meat regulary gets degraded by stomach acid and digestive enzymes. In the small intestine proteins are degraded into amino acids, and fats into fatty acids. Quality meat has a lot of nutrients that are good for our bodies. This include a high-quality proteins, vitamin B12, creatine, carnosine and a various soluble fats that vegetarians often lack. We can certainly live without meat, but we will not reach the optimum health and we will also not take advantage of all the benefits of the nutrients that nature offers us. It 's the same for all other groups of food, such as grains, legumes, vegetables, fish, eggs, etc. But a quality meat is the closest to the perfect food for humans because it contains nearly all the nutrients we need. Of course, not all meat is the same. The best meat is from those animals that graze or eat free food that can be found in the nature.

8. Eating meat will make you fat

Meat is rich with fats and calories, but it 's also one of the best sources of bioavailable proteins that degrade, absorb and use a food. A high protein diet can boost your metabolism to lose 80 to 100 calories per day. Several studies have shown that if you increase your intake of proteins in your diet, and decrease your intake of calories for a few hundred, you 're going to lose weight on autopilot.
