Everyone makes mistakes in life. Some, more major than others. In the play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, the mistakes made by Romeo caused the tragedy. Romeo was a well spoken, but kind of shy person. He thought he found love at first sight when he met Juliet at a party, but he went too fast. They met at a party that Romeo wasn’t supposed to be at. The second reason Romeo is at fault is because he got himself banished by killing Tybalt after Tybalt killed Mercutio. The prince clearly explained that the next time a conflict occurred between the two families, the people involved would be banished or killed. Romeo failed to comply to these rules, even after he was banished. He returned to Juliet’s grave, where he found Paris and killed him too. A lot of people might blame the Friar, but I’m here to tell you it was Romeo’s fault. They usually date for a while first. Romeo just decided to get married right away, without getting to know her at all. They met at a party that Romeo wasn’t even supposed to be at in the first place. This started everything. Romeo didn’t have to go and wasn’t even invited. According to Psychology Today, “Some evidence suggests that about 60 percent of people have experienced it (Naumann, 2004).” This is saying about 60% have had a relationship of love at first sight. So, it does exist, but only in certain conditions. Romeo, in this particular circumstance, wasn’t in that 60%. In this case, Juliet didn’t even know Romeo’s name, “Go ask his name- If he’s married, My grave is like to be my wedding bed.
