In the famous play, Shakespeare utilizes asides to further inform the audience of the characters’ thoughts. In the second scene of the second act, where Romeo is in Capulet’s garden at Juliet’s balcony, Romeo states, “Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this?” (2.2.40). Here, an aside is used in order to inform the audience of Romeo’s self-conflict. If the event occurred in reality, Romeo would not have stated the above because it is solitarily used to broaden the audience’s understanding of Romeo’s confusing relationship with Juliet.
The first quatrain or stanza helps describe the setting of the play and introduces the conflict which is one of the main issues. The second describes the young lovers and indicates that they have an unpleasant fate from the start, also it sums up the plot of the play. Also, it includes more detail to follow the first. The third suggests how the feud will end and the last 2 lines reminds the audience that there is more to the play than meets the eye. This helps to outline the main issues of the play such as love, conflict in the form of the feud and triumph.

The three threats that go against their love for each other are that their families, the Montagues and the Capulets, are bitter enemies. This leads into the second threat to their relationship which is that Romeo was never invited to Capulet’s party but he came anyway, and when Tybalt saw Romeo, he told his servant to fetch his sword and when Capulet heard him say that, he convinced Tybalt that there was no be none of that to take place and even thought he realized that Romeo wasn 't supposed to be there, he just wanted a night of peace. The third conflict between Romeo and Juliet’s love for each other is Paris.

Here’s an example: Person A has lied to their spouse, but it’s for their own good. Person A’s spouse always complains of the way that they look, saying they are fat and ugly. Secondly, Romeo kills Tylbalt out of anger from killing Mercutio then blames it on fate “O I am fortunes fool”(III.i.13).

In this passage, Shakespeare utilizes metaphor and negative diction to characterize Romeo as a person who is conflicted and frustrated by love, which ultimately reveals the theme that love is uncontrollable, conflicting, and short-lived. Towards the end of act 1 scene 1, Romeo still has a big crush on Rosaline, but Rosaline has no feelings for him. Hence, Romeo experienced a sense of depression and is conflicted by love.
