Moreover, in the beginning of the very tragic love story, Romeo had gone to a Capulet party that wasn 't really meant for him go to. Montagues and Capulets don 't mesh well yet he still went to see the girl he was said to be in love with, Rosaline. This is when the tragedy started to unravel. Tybalt spotted Romeo even though Romeo.
Romeo and Juliet’s first meet not only sparked a fiery romance between the two, it also dramatically affected the fight and tension between the Montagues and the
Violence Stems from Animosity Brutal violence and impulsivity are used in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare to demonstrate how violence can quickly arise from animosity and how the characters using violence should be held accountable for their actions, even if they were impulsive. Shakespeare’s famous work Romeo and Juliet contains brutal violence with the purpose of portraying how brutal violence stems from prejudice. Sampson, a Capulet servant, says, “'Tis all one, I will show myself a tyrant: when I / have fought with the men, I will be cruel with the / maids, and cut off their heads” (1.1.19-21). Sampson and Gregory use violence against Balthasar and Abraham, fighting in a quarrel that isn’t theirs, but their masters.
In many high schools, 9th graders read stories from different times and of different genres in their english classes. Notably, one of the most prominent stories read by high schoolers is The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. However, there is controversy that high schoolers should not read this Shakespearean play because many argue that it is not relevant to what teens deal with on a daily basis. Despite the fact that the tragedy takes place in the 14th century, teens were no different back then. As a matter of fact, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet presents topics that present-day teens still struggle with such as brain development, tunnel vision, and how to correctly approach suicidal teens.
“My bounty is as boundless as the sea, My love as deep; the more I give to thee, The more I have, for both are infinite.” (2.2.140-142) Throughout the tale of Romeo and Juliet, loyalty is shown in different ways. The theme of remaining loyal when things get tough can be seen throughout Romeo and Juliet, through Romeo finds out that Juliet is a Capulet and remaining loyal to her , Juliet remains loyal to Romeo when she found out that he killed her cousin Tybalt, and Mercutio defending Romeo against the insults of Tybalt .
On May 25th, 1591, Romeo Montague killed Tybalt Capulet in a bloody sword fight in the town square. Tybalt is the nephew of Lord and Lady Capulet and the cousin of Juliet Capulet. Tybalt had returned to the public place around 3:30 that afternoon. Romeo was angry with Tybalt for killing Mercutio after Mercutio had tried to defend Romeo. Romeo goaded Tybalt saying, “Alive in triumph - and Mercutio slain!
Act 2 scene 2 line 70 “ If they see you they’ll murder you”. This shows that because they fight so much they will murder him. This forces them to be secretive and not tell anyone therefore leading to more pressure on Juliet to not marry Paris. “three times now riots have broken out in this city all casual word from you old capulet and Montague” Act 1 scene 1 line 83-86. This shows that they fight with each other so much and this makes it hard for Romeo and Juliet to make their marriage public so they must keep it a secret since the families are mortal foes.
Once Romeo kisses Juliet she becomes interested but not completely star struck. She refers to Romeo last while asking the Nurse the names of the men he is with. When her mother Lady Capulet asks her stance on marriage Juliet says “it is not an hour that I dream of” and “I’ll look to like if looking liking move” (I.iii.68-99). This shows that Juliet is not opposed to, or excited for marriage before meeting Romeo. Shakespeare uses these scenes to depict Juliet as a poised young girl.
Romeo and Juliet is a well-known play written by William Shakespeare. Even though it is famous for being a love story, Shakespeare demonstrates that rebellion is closely tied together either it through the characters: Juliet, Romeo and Tybalt. By defying their families, authority and society's expectations, they set in motion the events in this tragedy. Romeo’s rebellion against society's expectations and his own family, the Montagues, is because of his love. His love of Rosaline is his first demonstration of defiance.
Friar- I have the utmost hope for this marriage and that it may bring great fortune to your future. Romeo- Whatever life throws our way, I am sure that our love, pronounced by you, can thresh through any struggle. Death doesn't scare me as long as I am one with her.
Romeo agrees to go and sees Juliet, Lord Capulet’s daughter and falls in love instantly with “her true beauty” (Shakespeare. I.v.51) and pulls her into the other room where they kiss. This meeting results in a prolonged love affair which springs a whole event of scandal including Juliet’s push back to marry Paris, but ultimately it results in Romeo and Juliet’s
O’ Romeo, my dearest Romeo! It pains me so to write this, and the very thought of you not being beside me is a stab in my heart. I urge my tears not to fall as I pen this-for you are alive, and not dead, and I must rejoice in this. It pains me so that we are only just wed, yet we must be separated. I can still feel your light kiss lingering above my brow, when you bid me farewell.
According to Derek Landy, a famous irish author and screenwriter, “ Violence is never the answer, until it’s the only answer.” This message stays true in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. In this dreamful play, there are two passionate lovers. On one hand there is Romeo, belonging to the Montague family, and on the other hand there is Juliet, belonging to the Capulet family. Unfortunately, for Romeo and Juliet, their families have been fighting in a never ending feud against each other.
In the play Romeo and Juliet hate is a major role in the story/play. The hate revolves around the hatred between the Montague’s and the Capulet’s. Hatred is shown throughout Romeo and Juliet as shown by peoples’ acts of violence. The story does not reveal why the hatred began, only that it was an ongoing conflict between the two families.
In my opinion I think that the feud between the two main families, the Capulets and the Montagues, is the most responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death. The conflict between these two families is so distasteful that it causes Romeo and Juliet even more of a struggle as they try to find and keep their love. This conflict between the Capulets and the Montagues has been going on for a very long time and neither side is willing to make up for whatever may have happened in the past. Because of this a strong dislike is portrayed when someone sees a person from the opposite side. If the family feud wouldn’t have existed Romeo and Juliet would not have any large reason to hide their relationship.
