Odysseus is an epic hero because he is strategic hero. For example, he was strategic by creating the Trojan Horse during the Trojan war that help the Greeks win the war with Agamemnon. In fact, he even was strategic when him and his crew were trapped in Polyphemus cave on Cyclops Island, he gave the cyclops alcohol and stabbed him in the eye with a huge spear and him and his crew were able to escape. Odysseus also escaped because Odysseus said to the cyclops “My name is Nobody. Nobody, my father, mother, and friends call me Nobody” (Homer page 9). He is also a epic hero because he is a vast traveler, he travels the whole ocean for 10 years with his crew and travels to the underworld. Surprisingly he was a good speaker, when him and his men were going against Skylla he said “Friends have we never been through this before, did I not keep my nerve during the cyclops for what power he had” (Homer 21). …show more content…

Above all, he got his men killed when they went to raid Ismarus. In fact, he got 6 of his men killed when they went to the cyclops island. When Odysseus went to the Loustrygones he lost more than 100 men and when they went to Helios Island, his crew ate the cattle, and he lost the rest of his men. He’s also not a good traveler because he can’t make it back home when all the rest of the soldiers that went to the Trojan war made it home.
