I’ve learned that my personal strengths come in the form of personal biases and self-awareness. Attempting to write about my personal strengths became a harder task to compete then I thought. I was able to form ideas on how I’m organized, so much so that I can organize the most chaotic things, I can bring order to a number of people’s lives at once. I’m an exceptional—straight A student; a published writer; I’ve managed to keep my job for 11 years; I was the youngest assistant manger my company had ever had; I find confidence in the worst of situations; I’m always able to see the brighter side to life; I can manage my emotions well—but are these really things to consider as personal strengths? Whereas they might be for some, they aren’t for me, they’re just mechanics that I’ve used to cope and mange to make it through life. Self-awareness is having a clear idea of who I am, based on my personality, strengths, weaknesses, beliefs, motivations and emotions, and by understanding myself allows me to better understand other people, though my perceptions seems to be just developing I feel its key in aiding me to be the best social worker that I can be. I have the ability to build a foundation so that some can stand on their own, if they don’t become to dependent on me in the process. My strengths come from what I’m not, what I am trying to become, and what I will one day be. What makes me strong breaks me, reshapes me and allows me to stand up and keeping going.
