Racist Things about Native Americans in Movies We have all seen movies like Peter Pan or Pocahontas or we have at least heard of them and know the main idea of the movies. But while they may appear fine, take a closer look at it and there are many flaws and racist things in them. In fact when someone looks close enough in a lot of movies there will be many flaws and racist things inside of them about Native Americans. Movies have had racist things about Native Americans in them for a long time and still do. Red face is a racist thing that white people did and it started around the year of 1930. It is when a white person paint’s red on their face to make them appear as a different race, in this case Native American or native Indian. This is extremely offensive because of the fact that they will dress up as a different race and show up on the screen acting and trying to portray someone else's beliefs Heritage and everything like that. American Indians were almost always looked at as half-clothed savages, screaming their war cries as they were shot off their horses by the white heroes. People look at us and are overwhelmed and don't know where to place us. “So we end up almost like a relic in a museum.” Where they have know idea what to do with us. We get pushed into these stereotypes that we must have a feather in our hair and buckskin and be on a horse, but by educating people who we are we are breaking down the walls of these stereotypes. “Because today we are doctors, we are lawyers, we are Baristas at your Starbucks” we are taking all of these different roles so why not start casting us in these roles as
