(Lead in Sentence) In the play A Doll’s House by Henrik Ibsen we realize how Torvald the husband of Nora can control her with all authority. Throughout the play, Nora struggles to become free from Torvald’s demanding orders and rules. What Torvald doesn’t know about his wife Nora is that she has committed a crime, a felony for forgery that could cost her to die. When Torvald finds out about Nora’s little secret she is forced to choose whether to stay or leave Torvald. If she stays than she will still be treated like a “Doll” but she will also have money. However, if she leaves her family than she will become free but she won’t have any financial aid. Nora’s final decision is to leave Torvald, freeing herself from his power over her. In ACT 1 she waits for Torvalds approval until she can do anything. It may not seem like this while reading the story but Torvald controls everything about how Nora lives her life, even to the slightest thing, what she eats. He tells Nora that it is forbidden to eat the macarons because they will “spoil her teeth”. However, all he cares about is his reputation and how his family looks to the naked eye. This act shows how unequal their relationship is when it comes to the amount of power Nora and Torvald
