Jayden Brogden Mr Goetz English 1 16 March 2023 The Dehuminization Of People In Farhenhiet 451 In Fahrenheit 451, there is so much wrong with their society ranging from discipling for reading books, chasing people with mechanical dogs, and burning homes. But there is multiple examples of these things that im going to talk about in this writing. People will call these things Dehuminizing because they strip people of basic human qualities and rights. They can kill a person mentally and in even some cases physically. Faherenheit 451 is a huge book of dehumanizining events and unfair events to humans. Police sending mechanical dogs and having them chase people for reading books and learning knowledge/opinions about the books. People where punished for reading even when it is helping them learn knowledge and become smarter and more intelligent. The government did not intend on people becoming more knowledgeable or smarter. They wanted to also have full control over these people lives and minds. We call this a Totalitarianism (a system of government that is centralized and dictatorial and requires complete subservience to the state) government. It would make people be considered as an “outlaw”. They would feel as if it is off or weird to have a certain intellect to the society due to the Totalitarianism fact aswell. The government would burn your books for even having them. Fireman would burn books instead of protecting against fire. They didnt care about what or how people felt. The government would feel as if the “society”/people would try to rebell against their form of government if they had the intellectual mind to stand up for themselves and others. So that is why the government wouldnt only send hounds at people they would burn them as well and if caught reading books in public they would arrest you and make you serve some prison
