I agree with the decision of him being sentenced for life. He killed two innocent people and was making an attempt on a third person. I think a rightful punishment is life in
While there are far more subjects to discuss regarding to this issue, I feel it necessary to state that I believe the death penalty should exist in a perfect society. I believe that certain crimes and certain situations warrant the punishment of death. However, the our society is not perfect. The justice system has failed to fairly use this punishment in far too many instances, and concludes that they cannot justly wield this
Countless people have committed murders, all around the world. Some are attempts, and some lead to actual deaths. Most gain time in jail, but some receive the death penalty. Why? By reason of innocents dead by the hands of another.
Both suspects were unarmed and harmless so ending their lives was an action that shouldn’t have happened. Michael Brown was facing the police officer to basically surrender when he was shot 12 times. Brown’s friend that was present when his death happened told MSNBC, “The officer came up to us and told us to “get the **** on the sidewalk” and then threatened us by saying “I’m going to shoot you.” (Johnson, NBC News). This is a prime example of police brutality and excessive use of violence.
In this day and age we see many white cops shooting young, unarmed, black males almost every week, but the cops do not get any punishment. Therefore,
Voluntary manslaughter is frequently called a "warmth of energy" wrongdoing. Deliberate homicide happens when a man; is emphatically incited (under circumstances that could comparably incite a sensible individual) and murders in the warmth of energy stimulated by that incitement. For "warmth of energy" to exist, the individual must not have had adequate time to "chill" from the incitement. That the killing isn 't viewed as first or second-degree homicide is an admission to human shortcoming. Executioners who act in the warmth of energy may murder purposefully, yet the passionate setting is a relieving element that lessens their ethical blameworthiness.
“Voluntary manslaughter is an act of killing that would ordinarily be considered murder but is committed in response to a high level of provocation. Because
This is one example why there should be great cause for concern with the ethics of the death penalty. For instance, “For every 9 who have been executed in the U.S. one person on death row has been proven innocent and released, a shocking rate of error.” (Just Mercy, 2019), The fact that there are several points at which there can be errors or biases within our criminal justice system, the death penalty as a punishment needs to be re-evaluated. I personally believe that even one innocent person executed is too many and therefore makes the death penalty a failure to the criminal justice
Oftentimes, the media publicizes when a black person is shot and killed by an officer and even then many cases tend to go unnoticed. The officers are hardly ever reprimanded for having shot an innocent child who was mistaken for holding a gun when it was really a toy truck. It is also known that far too often, rich white men are able to avoid being sent to jail, keeping their record clean. Whereas poor people of color are usually sentenced to harsher punishments for committing the same crime. It is evident that there is a much larger picture to the incarceration of black people and other minorities.
That is exactly the kind of difference that Wining Boy is talking about between a black and white man. IF the roles were reversed, the black cop would instantly get a life sentence with no chance of parole. So if a black cop kills a white man and gets punished, why can’t a white cop who kill black man get punished too.
Trayvon Martin’s murder has created a new chapter in history, because the judge declared his murderer not guilty (“Who We Are”) As a result, protests have surfaced from California to New York. Other incidents like Trayvon Martin’s have also come to light. Some people believe that the police’s actions were justifiable. I believe, however, that the punishment should fit the crime.
In this case, there was a black man who put his hands up and a female, white, police officer shot and killed him. There was a video of the accident that got released, and this really made the police look bad. The police woman said that she was sure he was going to pull a gun on her, but after he was killed, it was discovered that he was unarmed. In this situation, I believe the police woman should have tried
The past five years I’ve been spending in the hole were by far the most horrid years of my life… I, Joshua Graham, was sentenced a decade in solitary confinement for murder. Well, I was accused of murder. I was naturally doing a favor for everyone. There’s now one less scoundrel in this horrid world.
When someone is killed by another person it is murder no matter what unless if it is in self defense, but a lot of the murders of black people by cops are for no reason. We hear stories about how an officer has shot and killed black male after pulling them over and saying that it was in self defense to shoot, but what they do not tell you or show is that the man was just stepping out of his car and had his hands up. Another opposition is that it is not discrimination. When cops are accused of discrimination against blacks people there will always be people
Also, if society does not sentence an offender to death, they are an accomplice to that crime (Avaliani, 2004). Criminals that kill should suffer the same fate as their victims. The punishment should,
