The overall theme of Gary Paulsen's memoir Dirk the Protector is help will appear in your time of need. For example, Dirk appeared moments before Gary ran straight into the bullies after working at the bowling alley. This shows that Dirk was there when Gary needed him the most. Even though it might have been the hamburger, Dirk stayed with Gary for a long time, even after he left the bullies left Gary alone. Another example from the text is that Gary was also there in Dirks time of need.

Nearing the end of the book, I made another prediction. I predict that Déja’s family will move out of the homeless shelter that they live in and into another residence that they could afford. I can see this happening because recently, Pop has earned himself a job, meaning that the rest of the family has more than one person to rely on for earning money. At the beginning of the book, Pop was always feeling very sick - he was sad and coughing all the time. At that point, Déja’s mom was the only one who had a job and she was the one that her children relied on to keep food on the table.

“The Yellow Wallpaper”: Psychological, Feminist and Reliability Aspects in the Story The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman does not provide much information about character’s life, but creates a good basis for discussions on different topics. Psychology is one of the main issues in this list. The short story also raises strong feminist issues and makes the reader doubt in the narrator’s reliability. While they have different topics and styles, it can be compared with stories written by different authors, like Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Ambrose Bierce or Edgar Alan Poe.
