Leadership, a word associated with bold and recorded act of an individual that made a lasting impact in some shape or form. In times such as trial and new beginning, great leaders emerge which are sometime immortalized by the passing time due to their legacy; however, not all who lead are necessarily bold and can lost in time and the ideology of the day. This is the case of Abigail Adam. Abigail Adam is woman hailed as a hero of feminism due to her personal writing to her famous husband, John Adams. Yet, when came to her actual work as a mother and the First Lady, she isn’t quite hailed as the ideal feminists.
Harriet Tubman showed perseverance in by freeing slaves. She as well went through a lot of crisis before the time she free the slaves. She also became famous and honored by millions of slaves. First, was the birth of a new strong baby Araminta Harriet Ross.
How much work does it take for someone to stand up for human rights? How brave do they have to be to do it? Three individuals were strong and took that stand. Harriet Tubman helped many slaves escape to freedom, Patrisse Cullors helped stand up for black human rights, and Cesar Chavez got better conditions for people working in farm labor. They all stood up for human rights in a non-violent way because they were experiencing what was happening and were brave enough to do so.
Harriet Tubman was one of the most successful railroad conductors on the Underground Railroad. She never lost a passenger during her trips to Maryland to free slaves. There are no known confirmations of exactly how many trips Harriet Tubman made and how many people she saved. Historical documents do show that she had help on most of her trips from various different people. Tubman was a slave herself until she escaped in 1849.

In 1619 slavery in America started, it lasted until 1863 when all the slaves were freed by the emancipation proclamation but didn’t officially end until 1865 when the 13th amendment was ratified. Slavery on the eastern shore has had a major cultural impact on many of the people bringing many pioneers of black freedom to life such as Harriet Tubman and Fredrick B. Douglass who pushed for desegregation and civil rights. The eastern shore became an epicenter of civil rights and brought the injustice of slavery to light. In Maryland being a northern state there were many sympathetic anti-slavery residents.”
Everyone can be a hero and leader if they want it bad enough. You have to obtain the qualities to lead and work hard. Different people will all lead in different ways. Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, were all great leaders. They also all lead for the same cause just in different ways.
