Harriet Tubman Leadership Qualities

DId you knwo a single woman was able to liberate more than 700 slaves? This person is Harriet Tubman and she was able to do this as a leader with her organization. Tubman 's best leadership quality was her organizational skills. Harret Tubman 's organizational skills was the most essential quality of leadership because it set her up for success. The first example of this quality is when Tubman is when she plans the day of the week to to increase the chance of success. A piece of evidence that shows this quality is, "Unfortunately, the discovery was almost always made on a Sunday. Thus a whole day was lost before the machinery of pursuit could be set in motion," (Petry 1). Her oraganizational skills were important in this case because it gave her an advantage by gaining a head start. Tubman emerged as a leader because she used her differences as an advantage. The first difference was she has already escaped slavery. An example that shows this is, " Harriet Tubman was born into slavery in Maryland in 1820 and successfully escaped in 1849," (Petry 1). This difference allowed Harriet to emerge as a leader because she knows the routes to get to the North and what not to do to avoid getting caught. The second difference betweeen Tubman and her followers was the level of commitement. And example of this is when one of the escaped slaves said, "Let me go back. Let me go back," (Petry 3). This difference allowed her to emerge as a leader because even if the rest of her followers were quiting she was able to convinve them to keep fighting. The third difference between Tubman and her followers was she continued to rescue more slaves. An example of this is, "She mad two trips a year into slave territory," (Petry 4). This difference allowed Harriet to emerge as a leader because the slaves trusted her because she has a lot of experience and success to show
