The story of Exodus takes place in 1447 B.C. It starts with Pharaoh decreeing all Israelite boys had to be thrown into the Nile River. This is because the Israelites were growing fast and the Egyptians were scared that they would be overcome. There was one family who had a baby boy and created a little sort of boat. They set it with the baby in it into the Nile River. They sent his sister to watch it. Soon the Pharaohs daughter came down to the Nile to bathe and saw the raft floating in the water. They found the baby in it and she decided to keep the baby. The boy’s sister had been watching the whole time and came up to the princess and asked if she would like someone to nurse the baby and then he could come live with her when’s he’s grown. Because of this he was forced to flee out of Egypt. After seeing God in a burning bush God told Moses to go rescue his people. So Moses returned to Egypt telling the Pharaoh to let God’s people go. God had hardened his heart however and he would not let them go. God sent ten terrible plagues to Egypt, each one worse than the last. The last one God killed all first born boys in the land excluding the Israelites. This led to the Passover celebrated every year for God passing over and saving their boys. Finally after Pharaoh’s son dying he let the Israelites go. Not for long though after they left he pursued them to the Red Sea. The Israelites were able to cross on dry ground, but as soon as the Egyptians went in they were thrown into chaos and the sea swallowed them up leaving not one Egyptian alive. The Israelites were saved. God sent ravens and manna from heaven and gave water from rocks to keep them alive. God also gave Moses the Ten Commandments and instructions on His temple while they were talking face to face on a mountain.
