The two topics that I will discuss are the biological theory focusing on structures of the brain and also
level of explanation approach is put forward about the biological part of psychology. Those who support this view consider if psychology is a knowledge and psychology not different from biology, physics, or sociology. One of the people that support this view is David Myers. After David Myers, one that supports the level of explanation approach is Stanton Jones. He’s a psychology at Wheaton College.
Psychological scientists utilize a variety of methods, which include descriptive, correlational, and experimental methods. Descriptive method uses case studies, naturalistic observations, and surveys. A case study usually focuses on an individual or a small group of individuals. A naturalistic observation usually focuses on a larger group of individuals in a natural environment. A survey is used to ask a larger group of individuals’ questions about attitudes and behavior.
This is where abnormal behaviours are considered as emotional disturbances which is usually effected by problems in the childhood that hasn't been addressed and solved. This is when intervention and treatment is started by a psychotherapy this is where they try and see the unconsciousness of behavioural. Fourthly is biological psychology, this is where Darwin theory of natural selection, this is when a genetics are connected to human behaviours has been one of the strongest influences on psychology. Therapies believe that behaviours are influenced both physiological and neurological natures this is linked to the nervous system and using the brain as the main core of the behaviours and how to behave and in what matter to behave. This can be effected by illnesses and injuries to the brain and this effects how the brain will work because of this there will be an imbalance of the chemicals in the brain which this can also be effected by the persons allergies, such as allergies with foods and drinks.
approach • The cognitive or information processing approach • The social learning approach The Behaviorist Approach or Stimulus Response approach: The behaviorist approach states that all of our behavior
The main aim of this assignment is to find out the strength and weakness, similarities and differences between the different approaches of psychology such as biological approach, behavioural approach and psychodynamic approach. I have chosen mental illness to evaluate these approach. The biological, behavioural and psychodynamic approaches of psychology are connected to the nature and nurture argument. The biological approach highly talks about nature side of the argument and states that all behaviour is biological and is treatable.
Psychology is defined as the science of behavior and mental processes. The five enduring issues that draw psychologists together are person-situation, nature-nurture, stability-change, diversity-university, and mind-body. Person-situation answers the question: Are we masters of our own fate or victims of circumstances? Person-situation debates bring about recognition of how both the person and the situation determine behavior.
It is indeed true that it would have to be a combination of the seven major perspectives in order to successfully study behavioral and mental processes, but behaviorist perspective is a key strategy. The ability to observe behavior and environmental influences can lead with strides on identifying a problem or concern. At times it can be how a person is raised and what they are used to seeing as normal can be the reason for desirable and undesirable traits. The behavioral perspective helps answer: how do we learn our good/bad behaviors? Relationships and environment can mold ones behavior/ mental process and being able to comprehend these experiences using the behaviorist perspective can ultimately answer questions.
There is only one approach in psychology that studies thoughts, feelings and behaviour. The biological approach believes that the way we are is due to our genetics and physiology. They believe that the activity going on our nervous system’s is what affects the way we think, feel and behave (Sammons, 2009). The physiology in the biological approach looks into how the brain functions. The brain is a very complicated machine as such, the brain is what controls our every move, every feeling and every action.
There are many different perspectives of psychology. Among them I would agree with behavioral perspective if I were to become a psychologist. Behavioral perspective focuses on behavior learned through observation and external environment that stimulates the behavior. It is concerned with how responses are augmented or discouraged because of the positive or negative results. If the behavior is acceptable then it can be rewarded.
Each perspective with their good and bad sides, there are many perspective ranging from: Behavioural Approach; Biological Approach; Clinical Approach; Cognitive Approach; developmental approach; evolutionary Approach, Forensic; et al. BEHAVIOUR APPROACH PERSEPCTIVE Behaviourism is different from the environment because people are viewed as being controlled by their environment and that humans are a products of what they learn from the environment (Saul McLeod 2007). It is a perspective that focuses on learned behaviour more of a man is a product of his environment that the genes has no influence on the way a human behaves, it focused solely on observable behaviours. For a long time in the 50s, this psychological thought was dominating until the early twentieth
There are four main perspectives in psychology. These are known as; biological perspective, learning perspective, cognitive perspective, and sociocultural perspective. Each perspective aids in the understanding of human behavior. However, not one perspective can explain all of human behaviors. This is due to each perspective playing different roles in ones behavior.
A Psychological Approach is a perspective study that involves certain assumptions about the human behavior and the way they function. The character that I will most likely be talking about is Hamlet. After, analyzing Hamlet, readers will understand how Psychological Approach is shown throughout the play and what is going on through the characters heads and how they’re behavior changes on later in the play. In Hamlet there are many forces that motivate Prince Hamlet’s behavior to change and seek revenge.
Traditional Western approach to modern psychology The Traditional Western approach has had a great influence on modern psychology. The Traditional Western approach differs quite a lot from the African perspective, but has made a big impact on psychology today. Here are a few key aspects of the Traditional Western approach to modern psychology: • Assumes that psychology is a universal science that is objective and the knowledge is value-free
