What made Protestantism so successful was that it was created in a time where all religious rituals were in Latin making it very unlikely for the public to understand their priests. Since the protestant religion allowed for a better understanding of their religious views due to their translations of the bible appealed to many peasants who were uneducated and did not speak Latin. The participants also did not have to pay indulgences since the main protestant belief is that salvation is found through faith alone.
