The difference between public and private schools is that money is given different and the public schools follow a set curriculum while private schools can do what they want. Private schools get money from grants, donations and fund raisers
Charter schools receive their funding from the government but are privately run. Charter schools are essentially public schools which have the freedom to decide what they want to teach and how they want to teach it. A common misconception is that charter schools are religion-based schools, but that is not the case. Like public schools, charter schools are required to accept all students who want to attend (Sanchez). The main difference between the two types of schools is the education.
However, I would prefer if my child attended a Catholic so they could learn the same values that I have learned. I do not think I would raise my child to be very religious but I do want them to have a background of the Roman Catholic
Some of us now do not believe that there should be separation. Some feel that there should be religion be in public schools if brought up in conversation and then there are the ones that feel that religion should not be in public schools so that they or others would get upset with hearing things they do not believe
2) Open Enrollment Public Schools gives more opportunity: Most of the American families will let their kids attend Neighborhood Public Schools, but this gives an opportunity for families
In 1840, Brisbane became a regional community for free settlers of these many families desired to have their children educated. These settling families, mostly with Irish catholic backgrounds, believed that education was able to provide jobs and financial security for the family not only for the child/children. The catholic church believed schools were a high priority not only for education that lead to jobs and financial security, but to strengthen the catholic church and its community in Brisbane. (Ryan, 2009) As the Catholic Church felt so strongly about establishing schools and education for the children of the early settlers, new schools were often built first in new areas and then the church was built.
The study portends that students are actually disadvantaged by attending a private school compared to a public school. The authors suggest that this may be due to public school’s innovation compared to private school’s antiquated teaching methods. The study highlights that private school students do not make the academic progress compared to their similar peers at a public school. Have you ever been prohibited from an amusement park ride just because you weren’t tall enough? What about not being able to play on a team just because of the way you look? These two scenarios are examples of exclusion, which is the act of denying someone the opportunity to participate in an activity or enter a place. Exclusion may be one of the biggest flaws when it comes to special education in schools. Unlike traditional public schools, charter schools aren’t required to provide resources for special education students.
If one religion is allowed, then all must be, for no one religion is above any other. This has been a cause for controversy for as long as I have been around. Should be able to pray at school? Should money be allocated to religious based school groups? Should religion be a part of character
As time progresses, so is the debate between which educational institution is better at maximizing student’s education: charter schools or public schools. In “Redefining “Public” Education: Charter Schools, Common Schools and the Rhetoric of Reform,” author Chris Lubienski, makes the argument that charter schools are not public schools. He defines charter schools as having these common characteristics: “are publicly funded but free of any bureaucratic regulations with which traditional public schools have to contend. There is a dire need to reform public schools, test scores are often mediocre, achievement gap is atrocious, and this is only exacerbated by race. There are a couple of potential solutions already in place, these two being the No Child Left Behind Act and the topic of this memo, charter schools. Charter schools are still public schools, but they do depart from traditional public schools in many regards for example, they differ in that they are often more specified in curriculum or final goal than a traditional school. For example, a company may pay less money for an uneducated teacher rather than lose profit and spend more on a higher quality teacher. Most teachers in the public school system teach because teaching is their passion therefore, they want to teach, whereas in a private system the teacher may be there just for the money. Less government regulation in private schools can potentially make it harder for the government to enforce standardized testing and regulations such as requiring a certain number of school days and requirements to teach. These stereotypes and misconceptions have evolved overtime for a reason. There is an exaggerated truth about private school kids. The first private schools were established by Roman Catholic churches. These schools were initially built before public school, but only allow specific children to attend. Like today, these schools are for those parents who want a better education for their children.
No matter where you are in the United States religion in schools will always be an issue. Once school districts allow religion to be in schools there will ne following arguments that will occur. A major problem being that you can not just allow one religion. Christianity can not be the only religion you allow. Different religions practice there religions differently.
As I have heard from a friend here in America, US public schools are no less than quality but excel in private
