Recommended: Importance of learning skills
For example, this semester I am taking Honors World History, Chorus 2, and AP Chemistry. Though I struggle in some of these courses, I spend countless nights studying to maintain a 4.1 G.P.A. Science is a very prestigious passion of mine, and I hope to strive in such research. I participate in the Youth Achievers Committee Science Fair every year, and
The pain and agony due to the fact that I might not be prepared for college class was on my shoulders. Since day one of highschool, my biggest desire throughout school was to be engaged in learning while being well prepared for the next step in life: college. What class was the answer to this class desired? It was in a meeting with my guidance counselor in eighth grade that struck me and sparked the interest in my heart to do well. All of my highschool career I have never known what it actually meant to do well and be ¨successful.¨
Soy Ireny Sharkawy y soy de Egipto (Egypt) pero en la clase de español me llamo Irene. Irene es de Griego (Greek) y significa paz (peace). I am Ireny Sharkawy, a 17 years old high school student attending Wake Early College of Health and Science. I born in Egypt and when I was about 13 years old, I moved with my family to the United States of America.
While these were common struggles I was also finding difficulty in figuring out what I wanted to do. I entered UCI as a Psychology and Social Behavior major and with advices from other people I was pursuing Pre-Med as well and I started taking chemistry and biology classes. However, I was quick to find out that these classes were not for me which was reflected in my grades in those courses. Even though the initial couple of months were difficult, I found what I was passionate about which were the criminology classes that I began to take.
My work ethic and study habits are strong. Quizlet, flashcards, and notes are all study tools I use. I have been on Honor Roll for each year at Jack Jouett Middle School and get all A 's. When confused about a concept, I always ask for help early so I understand it before the unit becomes further difficult. Math and science are interesting and bring challenges.
Maintaining good grades is very important to me. I study a couple of nights a week for quizzes and tests. If you don’t have decent grades you won’t get into college. Even now in high school you won’t be able to precipitate in clubs like NHS if you don’t maintain a certain average. Like I said if you want to further your education after high school good grades now are a key factor.
Throughout high school I have tried to take classes that were not only challenging, but would also be relevant to my future. I have taken nine AP level classes since sophomore year, and I have thrived in the difficult coursework that is meant to be college level. So far, I have proven my hard work and dedication by passing all of the AP tests thus far. I have also taken advantage of the advanced math coursework that is two years ahead than normal. I began this track since the fifth grade, and I continued and progressed all these year.
I 've always been told that life will knock you down, but it 's getting back up that shows your true character. My whole life has been a series of ups and downs. As a child I always struggled in school. I never got horrible grades, but I certainly wasn 't the best student. After trying for many years to get better grades with little to no success, I gave up on trying and just accepted whatever grade I ended up with.
Doing what I love and being able to support myself and loved ones is important to me. I am a very independent person and I like to do things my way. I like to set individual goals everyday, whether that means doing my homework before a certain time, or completing something for the week. They help me get my work done on time and efficiently.
National Honor Society (NHS) is “the nation's premiere organization to recognize outstanding high school students.” NHS “honors students who have demonstrated excellence in scholarship, leadership, service and character.” Within my three years of high school I have began to develop these traits, and NHS can help me by expanding my leadership skills, enhancing my character, providing me more scholarship opportunities, and increasing my service hours. There are so many different factors that make up a person's character. Moral and ethical quality is one of my strongest characteristics that make up my character.
Education is very important to all of us as we decide what type of career we want. While I attended public schools growing up, I always thought about attending college. However, I became prepared for college when I attended Heritage High School through academic programs such as taking advanced placement classes, listening to advice from guidance counselors, and developing intelligent study habits to pursue my goals. One way I prepared for college while in high school was taking AP classes. Since AP classes are more difficult than standard class I had to put forth my best.
There was no doubt in my mind that I tried my hardest in the classes; I just did not have as much faith in myself when it came to the test day. In AP U.S. History, I did my homework religiously every weekend on Sunday afternoons by delving into each chapter as much as possible and enjoying what I was reading. For AP Language and Composition by creating a word wall in my room in order to improve my vocabulary. All the weekends spent doing homework and more for these classes paid off in a way I never would have imagined. I finally was able to believe my hard work towards achieving a goal could actually be rewarded.
I wish to attend the GERI Summer Residential for multiple reasons, including the experience I will earn in my area of interest, the challenge I will receive, the relationships I will make, and information I will learn. I have always been interested in taking all opportunities I can to separate myself from everyone else. I wish to achieve and be the best person I can be academically. Foremost, I work extremely hard in class maintaining a solid GPA of 4.0.
Don 't follow your friends, because they take a certain class it doesn 't benefit you in the long run. When picking classes, learn about the classes that they provide. In the field you want to pursue, and if you don 't know what field pick what interest you. There is a class called Advancement Via Individual Determination.
In 9th and 10th grade my studying habits were very poor and it showed tremendously on test and quizzes. 11th and 12th grade I took the initiative to learn how to study and not procrastinate. This was a challenge for me because test and quizzes took up the most percentage over classwork and homework which means one test or one quiz could drop your grade
