Why do you want to be a Community Developer? * I would love to be a Community Developer as I am immensely passionate about supporting a strong community within 1506. I enjoy using my skills as a leader to create friendships and to educate others because I find it to be exceptionally fulfilling. I’ve always yearned to help people. Thus, it is so satisfying when I know I’m having a positive impact on others and that the things I do help shape people into the best versions of themselves. Most importantly, they create a comfortable, safe community within their halls. There are a lot of ways that this must be done, but even more ways that creating a good community influences the people of IMSA, in 1506 and beyond. From the beginning, CDs establish the dynamic of the hall. They come in a week before the majority of the school with a smile on their face, ready to set up the decorations that will adorn the hall for the rest of the year. Although this doesn’t necessarily have a huge impact on the community itself, it shows that there are people in the hall that care enough to spend hours adorning the hall with things that will make the hall more cheery and more home-y. The decorations help to set each hall apart from each other, giving people an identity to relate to in their respective halls, which helps to make the community within each hall more coherent and meaningful. A few days later, the sophomores move in! Even though most of the upperclassmen are not on campus yet, the CDs must give the sophomores a positive introduction to what IMSA is like. CDs help sophomores bond with each other on an all-hall level, coordinating events that allow new people to mingle, while also helping them become more aware of what will keep them happy and successful at IMSA. Somebody who is a positive role model establishes goals for themselves that they are driven to achieve. To do so, they take care of themselves and put their wellbeing as a priority. They try to find an even balance between different aspects of their health. If they care about their academics, they work hard for it, but they try to avoid too much stress or all-nighters doing homework. At the same time, they strive to help other people achieve. They bring others up. Role models should be open-minded and non-judgemental, so they can listen to diverse perspectives other than their own. At the same time, they should always value their own opinions and identity, in order to keep their self worth high. They are excited to be visionary, and thrilled when others are creative and passionate. Therefore, they always have hope and excitement for others. When there is a problem, they are unafraid to voice potential solutions and to address issues astutely with good judgement. In addition, a positive role model gives good advice based on their own experiences and is not afraid to teach others valuable lessons. No matter what they do, good role models strive to have a positive impact on the world around them. Therefore, they consistently try to better themselves and better
