Dear Mr. President, Civic and political participation of the people in this nation is important in order to keep a functioning government and society. If the people of this nation ignores their civic responsibilities and don’t help make important decisions, then just a couple individuals are choosing who merits government positions. It 's our obligation as citizens to ensure our rights and take an interest politically. Lastly, civic and political participation is important because it allows people to be herd, to fight for justice and equality. What issues or events motivated the person to action?
The United States of America Prides itself on its extensive democracy--it is one of the most free places in the world--so why is it that a citizen has the right to vote, and is expected to exercise it, when it could be potentially pointless to cast a ballot? The answer, is the Electoral College. The Electoral College was established because our founding fathers dictated that their citizenry was incapable of making informed decisions, and they thought it best that the central figurehead of the nation be decided by men like them. That is false now--the Electoral College is an antiquated system that needs to be abolished because it is an inaccurate representation of what the people want, it forces people to throw away their vote, and most importantly,
When people go to the polls to vote, they aren’t voting directly for who should get elected, instead they are telling their state how they want it to use its electoral college votes. 48 states use the “winner takes all principle” This means that in these 48 states, if one candidate wins the majority in that state, then that candidate gets all the electoral votes in that state. I believe the citizens of Georgia will vote for Donald Trump in the presidential election and for Johnny Isakson in the election for Senate. They will also vote for all incumbents for the 13 districts in Georgia. The research from many studies and polls collectively show that Trump will be the winner of Georgia, and For president, Georgia polls have consistently shown Trump ahead of Hillary, and currently has 63% of voters support. They most recent Georgia voted for a Democratic candidate was the 1992 election and have consistently voted Republican after. Though their elections have been fairly close throughout the years, they’ve also been fairly consistent in voting for more conservative candidates.
Throughout the recent years the majority of the able voting population are exercising their privilege to vote. Even during the presidential elections the voter turnout rate was 50% or less than that. The act of voting should be a personal responsibility of every citizen meaning it should be a obligation. But to specify on this statement, it should not lawfully required to vote because people also have the right not to vote too (and it would be weakening personal liberties) , but it should be a personal responsibility for citizens if they are to complain about how the government run rather than every citizen. A personal responsibility is when we are the cause of our own actions.
Voting Is An Important American Issue During my personal experience during an election, I believe that each arguement is a very compelling and potentially problematic concern. Each method of voting has a potential flaw, such as , paper ballots can be tampered with, stolen, or even hard to read in some cases. On the more positive side the paper method can be very easy to use for all people including those who are disabled, the instructions are clear, the choosing of candidates are simple, and for the elderly it 's easy as well, because not everyone is a computer whiz and would rather choose a method to which they are more comfortable like paper and pen, because evryone in our nation at one point or another have been to school and used old fashion paper and pen; Computer Technology wasn 't always around.

Some of you may know me and some of you may not, but I am Clementine Forest one of 3000 women suffragists who has marched here today, the largest march ever occurred, for the cause of women 's suffrage. I am here to represent and express the importance of women receiving the right to vote. Unfortunately, the London weather wasn 't on our side with the presence of heavy rain throughout our march from Hyde Park to Exter Hall, but this reinforces that nothing will stop women from protesting their right to vote. As you know we have been gathered together as one, today on February 9th, 1907, the day in which Parliament is open once again for the coming year.
This is a biggest question that I always want to ask people. Since the 1960s, the US Supreme Court has established a standard for equal representation in a democracy, which is “one person, one vote.” As a Chinese immigrant and had been living in a communism country for 15 years. To be honest, I do not understand how one vote is representing people’s voice in election and how one vote is representing democracy. Can one vote affect the final result in election?
