Explain Why Juveniles Should Be Tried As Adults

In many cases throughout the world, there has always and will be a controversial argument whether a “kid” should be trialed as an adult or not. The Supreme court has to take into action, whether the case was severe and how they will punish the teenager for whatever crime they committed. In, my opinion I highly agree that juveniles should be tried as adults no matter how old they are because they were aware of their actions and knew exactly what they were doing at the moment. Even, though some people might think otherwise, like they’re just ‘kids” and don’t know from right or wrong. Honestly, this is so, absurd because you can’t be that idiotic to not know what you’re doing. For these reasons, this is why juveniles should be tried as an adult, regardless of the situation that led them to do it. They should be tried immediately as an adult and be sentenced life in prison. Justice Alito is for trying juveniles as adults because he stated that “mandatory sentences reflected the will of American society that heinous crimes committed by criminals should always be punished with a sentence to life in prison.” He reflects his own point of view on how society how see things differently if murders aren’t punished the way they should be. Society then would be thinking that murdering and doing such careless acts are okay to do, when in reality it is not. Alito In “Kids Are Kids- Until They Commit Crime,” by Marjie Lundstrom she states how a twelve year old named Lionel Tate “savagely beat to death a six-year-old - will likely learn if he must spend life in prison ...” (Lundstrom 87). She clearly devotes her opinion that something so horrendous such as beating a young little girl to death should be punished no matter what.
